Like many born in the mid-50s I grew up with classic rock but when most of those iconic bands dissipated I took an interest in jazz starting with Michael Franks and Spyro Gyra which then exploded into many of the artists featured on this playlist especially Caldwell, Shakatac, Astrud Gilberto, Ritenour, Yellowjackets, Lorber, Jean Luc-Ponty, Passport, Special EFX, Hiroshima, Acoustic Alchemy, Kirk Whalum, Tom Grant, Al Jarreau, Sade, Pat Metheny, et al. Bands like these filled the void that 90s+ rock left. Some classic rockers are still kickin it live to our sheer delight but the jazz genre has achieved equal status in my humble opinion. Kyle , please consider adding Cest What?! to your extensive repertoire as well as some of the classics such as Miles Davis, Chick Corea. Thanks, man.

I remember hearing this one on Skyline Jazz, which started around Sept. of 1985, taking over from where WRVR (New York) went off the air in Sept. of 1980. It's main D.J.'s were Drew Butkosi(sp) and Mike Myers. It was a wonderful Jazz station for those of us heartbroken by the end of WRVR.

Absolutely adore this one! Got it on a Korean Jigu cassette pressing that includes "Gonna Get Some When I Can" left off all the other LP and tape issues. "Easy Listening" is such an all-time boogie monster and the rest goes all over the place, but always beautifully. The lineup is absolutely wild; Clarke, DeJohnette, Airto, Abercrombie, Hubbard et al... Optimism was suuuuch a good label.

I'm hearing a lot of stuff that reminds me of certain parts of Nintendo games that I loved playing (and still do) mixed in throughout. For instance, "Group Therapy" sounds like the sewer music in the first Ninja Turtles game! Great stuff! Videogame composers are notorious for borrowing LOTS of ideas from stuff they like, so I'm not surprised.😅

It's great to hear the inclusion of George Howard's "Just The Way I Feel" (from "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind") and Joe Sample's "I'll Love You" (from "Ashes to Ashes "). These are two tunes that aren't played often on any platform. Thanks much for sharing your musical magic. Blessings to you and all. P.S... I keep these playlists going all around the house, kitchen tv, etc. Great to see you upload, most of the stuff I see is from couple years ago. Keep on rockin all us cool cats!
